LED light bulbs boast long life and excellent energy-saving performance. In Japan, we have become quite familiar with them, but in Europe, where people still prefer a warm glow, incandescent light bulbs (with a transparent glass exterior and a filament in the middle) are still popular.
The orange radiant shimmer of the filament and the glow of the glass reflecting the light - incandescent lights produce a really warm, nostalgic light. Although fluorescent light bulbs and LED light bulbs save energy, perhaps it is hard to compete against this idyllic light.
Using its latest technologies, Panasonic has managed to recreate this glow with its LED clear light bulbs. This product has received the "iF Product Design Award," the most prestigious award of the globally renowned "iF Design Award 2012" along with many others.
Panasonic has announced that it will introduce LED clear light bulbs and lighting devices developed with its unique eco technologies to Europe, a territory with a large latent demand. This video introduces Panasonic's commitment and the secret behind the LED clear light bulb, which only Panasonic can bring to life.

Panasonic took part in one of the world's largest, international lighting and building services technology tradeshow, "Lighting + Building 2012." Panasonic's LED clear light bulbs, which realize the brightness as well as the warm glow of incandescent clear light bulbs, drew much attention at this tradeshow.
This is the close up image of the LED clear light bulb. Panasonic's unique "Center Mount Technology" enables the center to glow, similarly to the filament core of incandescent light bulbs. Also, by using a material that lets light through for the substrate, light can be emitted both above and below much in the same way as filaments. What's more, these light bulbs only consume 6.4W. Although they produce the same brightness as a 40W incandescent light bulb, these LED light bulbs realize approximately 80% energy savings.
In Europe, this light bulb is called "Nostalgic Clear." As the name indicates, these light bulbs emit a warm, nostalgic glow, so they may be widely accepted by people in Europe, who prefer the familiar glimmer of incandescent lights. In the booth, Panasonic recreated various scenes found in the home, and communicated how people can incorporate these new energy-saving light bulbs without sacrificing the ambience.
These are the LED lighting devices for stores exhibited in the booth. Panasonic offers center-mount LED module, the "LUGA Shop LED Module," as devices that can be easily incorporated into the product line-up of lighting device manufacturers and construction companies. Panasonic announced that it will be strengthening its lighting business efforts in Europe.
These are organic EL lighting modules Panasonic proposes to lighting device manufacturers in Europe. These surface light sources can evenly emit light to the desired area. As you can see, they are thin, highly efficient and have a very long life. When you look at their profiles, you can see that they are very thin. It's strange to see these organic EL lights emit light even though there is nothing behind it, but you can just see the potential they have for a wide range of applications.
