Light to Protect the Stars

Japan’s “Star Town” - Bisei, Okayama Prefecture. Known for its ideal climate & location for stargazing, Bisei has taken many steps to protect its starlit sky. Panasonic supported Bisei’s cause and worked to develop new LED streetlights specially-designed to prevent light pollution. These streetlights are the first in Japan to be approved as Dark Sky Friendly Lighting by the International Dark-Sky Association (IDA). Bisei wanted to protects its residents while also protecting its beautiful starry sky. This is the story of those dedicated people who love the stars.
