Tokai University, a team supported by won the "Sasol Solar Challenge South Africa 2012," the longest distance solar car race in the world held in September 2012. Tokai University's race car was equipped with Panasonic's HIT solar cells, which boast the world's top-level energy conversion efficiency, and high-capacity lithium-ion battery. The team finished first in this 11-day, 4,632km challenging race that took the participants all around South Africa.
